LUCIANO DENVER: PHOTOMONTAGE

LUCIANO DENVER ARTIST BIO

Luciano lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia. He was born in 1975 in the city of Junín, Argentina. In 1994 he moved to Buenos Aires from Junín, to study Fashion Design and then Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. During his career he collaborated with architecture offices on landscape projects, at which point he gained interest in the topic as the central axis of his artistic search.

In 2001 he moved to Europe where he presented his artistic work for the first time in gallery settings. In 2012 he arrived to Bogotá where he currently resides and works. In his work, he approaches cities from different cultural contexts, reviewing the evolution of their architecture and urban planning and how these affect daily life. One of the key media within his artistic practice is photography, understood in the least conventional way possible, because it distances itself from a documentary evaluation of the image, but also resists an "artistic" use of it. What he proposes is the use of photography as an artistic practice that implies the appropriation of different conceptions of its logic; Seeing his images, one might think at first that it is a documentary proposition, but then the idea that it is an entirely imaginary invention would seem to arise. But if the viewer continues to investigate, they discovers that there is as much of one as of the other, except that these two readings are articulated for entirely critical motivations.

His work has been collected and displayed throughout Latin America, Europe and more recently within the US markets. With shows in NYC, Miami, and Los Angeles.
